Best Robot Floor Cleaner
Robot mops are more efficient than vacuum cleaners that need you to sweep the floor before they can perform their job. They are also more effective at cleaning around edges and thresholds.
Our favorite is the iRobot Combo j5+, which scored high marks in CR's tests of mopping and vacuuming. It is able to navigate household obstacles and leaves hardwood floors spotless as well as cleaning carpets with low pile.
iRobot Roomba Combo i5
This robot vacuum and mop is among iRobot's most versatile machines. It comes with a standard trash bin for dry waste, and an additional tank for wet. It is excellent in navigating the floor and getting around obstacles. It has a retractable mops which prevents carpets from becoming wet. The robot is also effective at removing pet hair from different floor surfaces. It is noisy and does not perform as well as other competitors when it comes to picking up dirt and debris that are deposited on floors.
The Roomba Combo i5 is an excellent choice for people who need a powerful device that can do mopping and vacuuming with out any additional equipment. It is best suited for homes with no carpeting and a majority of hard flooring. It is not recommended for homes with a lot of stairs or rooms that have many rugs. It is also expensive however, it comes with the features and performance that justify the price.
It uses patented Dirt Detect Technology to detect areas with a heavy buildup of dirt and then cleans them more thoroughly than other 2-in-1. It also has advanced navigation that allows it to navigate in neat rows and thoroughly cover walls of a room. The mop pads can be cleaned and reused up 30 times.

The iRobot Combo j5+ is a more budget-friendly option than the i7 or J9 combo models. It has the same mop but it has a patented dirt-detecting system as well as a powerful vacuuming. The iRobot j5+ also does well in our mopping and vacuum stress tests, but it's not as effective as the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni in these tests, which makes the Combo J5+ a less flexible option.

Narwal Freo X Ultra
A highly-rated, highly-functional Gen 4 robot vacuum and mop that takes a fresh approach to design and functionality, the Freo X Ultra is a well-built machine. The $1400 price tag may be hard to swallow but it is often available to make it more affordable. The unit looks stunning, and the base occupies very small space in a corner.
This robot's design addresses some of the issues we have encountered with other robotic vacuum and mop units, like the brushes getting tangled in hair, or the brush not being able to reach floors that are not covered by furniture. The sweeping performance is impressive on carpets and bare flooring. The vacuum/mop unit has the highest amount of debris collection and the mop can saturate bare floors quickly.
The mops have a sophisticated system that cleans along the edges of walls and around furniture. The robot can handle the largest obstacles like food bowls, toys, shoes, and backpacks without any issue. It is able to get tangled or get stuck with smaller, less hefty objects like shoelaces, USB cable, and pens.
This robot was used to vacuum and mop hardwood flooring FLOR carpet tiles, as well as pile rugs in an open-plan home. With FREO Mind enabled, it cleaned and mopped the 90m2 space in around 170 minutes that's close to average for Gen 4.
A number of features set this robot apart from other robots in its class. The Freo X Ultra has a slew of software, sensor, and hardware improvements engineered to keep it at the top of its game. It claims 3.5 hours of autonomy in environments of up to 260 square meters.
Freo's app lets you customize multiple functions, including how often the robot comes back to the base station. You can also change the frequency of mopping and the power level (silent, smart), or the mopping humidity. The app can even identify areas with a lot of dirt and design a clean route, as well as give detergent out or raise the pads on carpet.
Other impressive features include a fast charging battery, a simple-to-read display on the robot's underside and a handy dock door that is easy to open. The Freo X Ultra is the best vacuum and mop for homeowners and apartment owners who want to make a difference in their chores while keeping their homes clean and tidy.
Miele Scout RX3
Miele is no slouches in the robot vacuuming world and is known for its quality and technological innovation. The new Miele robot is designed to take the cleaning performance to a new level, thanks to its smart features.
The RX3 has dual suction smart navigation system that incorporates 3D mapping, and a camera that transmits live images to your smartphone for simple control. The RX3's powerful four-stage system provides excellent dust collection on hard floors and carpets. Side brushes can be swept out as well as dual suction channels and intuitive controls clean corners. Its 8.5 cm height allows it to reach under low furniture. Front cameras and an infrared sensor help it navigate barriers, thresholds and obstacles with ease.
The Scout RX3 impressed us in our test of how well it was able to clean baking powder from baseboards and corners. Its suction of 2,500 Pa was a bit weaker than other robots, but it moved quickly and was extremely quiet. It didn't mop, and its clean pad was difficult to attach. It also wasn't able to handle dirt that was dried on.
Its app is basic with no advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It works with Alexa but its voice controls don't seem to be very clear or responsive. It's also a little erratic when it returns to the charging station after an exercise. Other robots can follow an obstruction or follow the previous route, but the RX3 bumbles around until it quits.
robotic vacuum cleaners experienced issues with the smart features of the device, namely its mapping feature as well as digital stay-out zones. While it did a good job of keeping away from our shoes and furniture legs however, it was easily hung up by cables and socks and couldn't handle the tassels that adorn rugs. That's why we chose not to include it in our Best Buy list. Still, with a decent price and impressive performance it's a Scout RX3 is worth considering if you're looking for a smarter alternative to traditional uprights.
